Curly Girl - Michele Bender

I read through this book in one sitting. What I loved most about it was the empowering advice on how to manage curls independently, and using natural ingredients. There are several pages dedicated to DIY home concoctions which I love. I also loved that ingredients were explained as well as why each one was good or bad. Overall, I think this offers a fantastic place to start for curlies who don’t know much about the science of curly hair, since there’s no bogus focus on using particular brands or products (although DevaCurl products are amazing!), and it’s more focused on explaining why curly hair behaves as it does, what it needs, what to avoid, and how you can manage it yourself. Very great book, easy to follow. I HIGHLY recommend it.
