World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War (Abridged) - Max Brooks

Well, as I was unable to find an unabridged version of this book, I bit the bullet and went ahead and downloaded the abridged version here. Generally I never by an abridged audio-book (what’s the point), but I really wanted to hear this one, and thought I would give it a try. I was both surprised by how good the World War Z story is, and disappointed by the fact that the story seemed not only short, but a little hollow. Reading the other reviews here, I would have to agree that a great deal is missing (too much).

This book should be available UNABRIDGED. It’s a great story, and the cast reading this is amazing (not always true for audio-books with a “cast” involved). However, the abridgement is nothing but a tease. I think I would have to recommend -not- purchasing this here on iTunes until a full version is available. There’s no sense in getting half a taste, and/or anyone but the author’s intended vision of the story.

Abridged books almost always ruin a story, this one promises so much but in the end just flat disappoints the listener.
